Private Cartooning Classes
The Cartoon Art Museum offers one-of-a-kind cartooning classes for all types of groups. The classes are great for school groups, team building, birthday parties, field trips, and many other possibilities. Private lessons are also offered for students of all ages who are interested in one-on-one instruction.
Basic Information:
  • Classes last a minimum of two hours.
  • Admission to the museum and a quick tour is included for all participants.
  • Basic materials are provided.
    (Students are encouraged to bring their own sketchbooks.)
  • Instruction by s local cartoonist.
  • Offered during regular museum hours (11 am to 5 pm Tue through Sun).
  • Reservations must be made two weeks in advance.
  • Near public transportation BART/MUNI.
  • Walking distance to Parks, Entertainment, Restaurants, Shopping, and Museums (MOAD, ZEUM, MOMA, and Metreon, etc) that can complete your day.

The class lessons are designed for age specific groups, Please contact us to inquire about other possibilities for mixed ages.

Group Class Sizes:

1 to 10 students = $100.00
(requires 1 chaperone)
11 to 20 students = $150.00
(requires 2 chaperone)

Chaperones are required at all times during the class.

Individual tutoring sessions can be arranged for students of any age. Please contact us for more information.

Instructors:

Jackeline Adelemeyer: Jackie holds an MFA in Animation from the Art Institute of California - San Francisco. She teaches private cartooning lessons at the Cartoon Art Museum and works for a local San Francisco game art company.

James Scott Hummell: Currently working as a Graphic Designer, James has a BFA in Illustration with an emphasis on Animation and Film. He worked in a production capacity for 6 years in the Animation Industry for Bay Area studios such as Mondo Media, Wild Brain Inc, and Pixar Animation Studio. He teaches private and group classes at the Cartoon Art Museum.

Brian Kolm: Local cartoonist and author of the comic book series, Beyond the Great Chimney, Brian Kolm has been teaching cartooning classes at the Cartoon Art Museum for many years. He has also taught at the Charles Schulz Museum and ZEUM.

Karen Luk: Karen creates web comics and contributes to MangaStart.com as a writer and artist. She has taught various comics/manga classes for public venues, industry conventions and art education conferences. She holds a BFA in Illustration from the California College of Art.

Daniel Salcido: Local cartoonist and self-published comic artist. Daniel teaches private cartooning lessons at the Cartoon Art Museum and group cartooning classes at the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center.
