Summerlea Kashar oversees and manages the direction of the museum and its staff, and maintains its community relationships. She has been with the Cartoon Art Museum since 1998, and Executive Director since December 2010. She holds an MA in Arts Management from City University, London, and previously served on the Board of the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District.
Andrew Farago has curated more than 100 exhibitions of cartoon and comic art. His bibliography includes The Looney Tunes Treasury, the Harvey Award-winning Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History, The Complete Peanuts Family Album, The Art of Harley Quinn, and Totally Awesome: The Greatest Cartoons of the Eighties. In 2015, he received the prestigious Inkpot Award from Comic-Con International.
NINA L. TAYLOR KESTER
Nina Taylor Kester became involved with the museum as a volunteer in 2014 and now runs educational and public programing. She holds a BFA in Cartooning and Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York and worked in digital marketing and community building for Archie Comics, Charles Schulz Creative Associates, Tapastic (now Tapas), and as a colorist for BOOM! Studios on Peanuts.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Cartoon Art Museum board plays a very active role in the operation of the museum and is essential to its mission of promoting a greater appreciation of the fine art of comics, cartoons and animation. Members offer their professional experience in support of the nonprofit community and the talented individuals responsible for creating great art. Trustees also assist in fundraising efforts and help the museum by securing new sources of financial support.

An editor, journalist, and freelance writer for the past 25 years, Evans became involved with the museum in 2001. He still has first comic book: The Amazing Spider-Man #150.
DR. MICHAEL B. JOHNSON
Board Vice Chair
Dr. Johnson is the Pro Workflow Architect, Systems Architecture & Design at Apple, Inc. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Graphics & Animation & a Masters of Visual Studies from MIT’s Media Lab. He previously work at Pixar Animation Studios from 1993 - 2018, and has served on the CAM board since 2002.
As Executive Director, Ms. Kashar oversees and manages the direction of the museum and its staff, and maintains its community relationships.
President of Word Play Publications, Whyte serves on the Board of Directors of the Book Club of California, and has authored 45 books and produced nearly 200, including The Underground Comix Family Album and Goreyography, plus exhibition catalogs on the art of Walt Kelly, Charles Schulz, Edward Gorey, among others.
