    CARTOON RESOLUTIONS: KEEPING GOALS TO CREATE

    Join us in socializing and making resolutions to cartoon as we celebrate the upcoming new year. This 2-hour workshop will introduce you to goal setting strategies and how to make time for creativity in the year ahead. Learn how to get passed writers block, the blank page and other obstacles while learning how to commit to methods for defeating procrastination. Plus learn drawing and writing basics to get started on your path to a creative you. All students will get to complete a mini-comic zine within the workshop to start off creative resolutions on the right foot! Passive and avid doodlers alike are welcome to take advantage of this focused workshop. No experience is necessary and all materials are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own sketchbook and drawing supplies. Free same-day admission to galleries included with workshop. Recommended for 14+ and Adults.

    Kids and their Parents collaborate to imagine their own silly stories and create miniature storybooks to take home! Learn how to write and draw stories of your own like Chuck Jones' animation of Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" on display in the Cartoon Art Museum galleries as part of A Treasury of Animation exhibition. No experience is necessary and all materials are provided. Free same-day admission to galleries included with workshop.

    CARTOONING CHALLENGES: INTO THE MULTIVERSE

    Comics are too big for a single universe to hold them, from Spider-verse to Bat Family the multi-verse reigns. Learn to design your own style of characters pulling from existing favorites to create a cohesive look. Then create your own character and create their multiverse versions. Passive and avid doodlers alike are welcome to take advantage of this focused workshop. All materials are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own sketchbook and drawing supplies.  Free same-day admission to galleries included with workshop. Recommended for ages 14+ and Adults.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

The Cartoon Art Museum offers a 50% discount for Youth and Educational Groups that schedule their visit in advance. Additional charges apply for Docent led tours of the exhibitions. The form below may be used to request a scheduled group visit. Group visits can also be arranged by calling 415-CARTOON.

The Cartoon Art Museum offers customized workshops to the public and institutions. Workshops are arranged to fit into your schedule, cartooning topic of choice, and skill level. You can schedule a single session or a series of workshops using the form below. The Cartoon Art Museum can also work with your school, library, business or child-care facility to bring a cartooning instructor to your location.

Cartooning workshops and a self-guided or docent-lead group visit to the museum can be folded into your curriculum, programming, team building, or after-school programs through creative hands-on activities and their career applications.

Please note:

  • Your desired date must be requested two or more weeks ahead.
  • Visits to or workshops at the museum can be requested for any day 11am-5pm.
  • A standard workshop is 2 hours and serves up to 20 students.
  • Additional time or students may be accommodated for additional fees.
  • Workshops with 5 or more students under 18 require 1 chaperone for up to every 10 students.

All classes take place at the museum’s educational space at 781 Beach Street or a partnered location unless otherwise requested. Classes requested off-site must take place at a public space or business location and cannot take place at private residences.
